Walkern.net was originally setup by Chris Windebank (Ingenious Displays) and Sarah Durkin (Zen Creative) back in 2003 as a central website for the Walkern village and to help promote our pretty Hertfordshire village to the wider community.
In 2009 Walkern.net was generously donated by it’s founders to the “Walkern Journal”, a small village group responsible for publishing the Walkern Journal magazine. Our aim is to enhance and extend this website to fulfill Sarah and Chris’s original vision for the site and to create a living, breathing online chronical of Walkern life

I just wanted to thank the lovely people of walkern , today I broke down after collecting my daughter from work experience from church farm, and my clutch went , so I was stranded while I waited for the aa. I had my faith in human nature restored while in your village. A man, whos house i had broken down outside, gave my daughter and I an ice cold j2o which in the sweltering heat was very welcome. And 2 nice gents stopped and pushed my car to the safety of a layby, so a situation which should have been a little frightening and upsetting actually left me smiling. I can’t speak highly enough of the people I encountered, thankyou! Hayley x
